Cookies flushing when closing new tab or window

Postby Prannay Jain on Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:57 am

I am running one JavaScript which is checking if cookies are expired or not in every .5 second and on closing the new tab or window(of same app) i.e 'onunload'.
Whenever cookies are expired on client side(because of some JS) above check will execute and it will send POST request to backend server with the name of the cookies that have expired.

So whenever I am closing a new tab or window in chrome, somehow cookies are expiring and this JS sends POST req to backend server that cookies have expired.
I am not seeing this issue in IE and Firefox.

So is this the functionality of chrome that it flushes all the cookies as soon as we close a new tab or window because it treats every tab and window as different process?
May be this thing happens for every other App in chrome(like Gmail etc) but as in my case I have this special JS which is checking if cookies are expired , so causing problem.
