Crash requiring reboot

Postby PilotintheUK on Fri Apr 24, 2009 4:37 am

Having an increasingly frequent problem running Chrome on a Vista Laptop. After a random amount of time, the connection seems to fail, Windows 'diagnose and repair' says it's fine, and IE8 still seems to connect, but not Chrome.

Shutting down Chrome is then difficult, usually achieved by Task Manager but sometimes even that does not work.

If I try to re-start Chrome, it takes a long time to start up (>30 secs) and then shows me a blank homepage, no 'most visited' sites. The search function of the address bar does not work, I can only enter web addresses which then seem to connect OK.

Only solution to this is to reboot, after that all is OK again. Sometimes, however, the re-boot does not respond, the computer simply does nothing and needs to be shut off by holding down the power button.

Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. It started after installing windows updates and I know that some Firefox users are having problems since the updates (June 09).

System restore didn't work.

Does anyone ahve any ideas?
