What's the google ipv6?

IPv6 is the new version of the Internet Protocol which allows a lot more devices to connect to the Internet .While technologies such as Network Address Translation (NAT) can offer temporary respite, they complicate the internet's architecture, pose barriers to the development of new applications and are contrary to network-openness principles.

How ipv6 works?

Google over IPv6 uses the IPv4 address of your DNS resolver to determine whether a network is IPv6-capable. If you enable Google over IPv6 for your resolver, IPv6 users of that resolver will receive AAAA records for IPv6-enabled Google services.

growth

IPv6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to deal with this long-anticipated IPv4 address exhaustion, and is described in Internet standard document RFC 2460, published in December 1998.IPv6 also implements additional features not present in IPv4. It simplifies aspects of address assignment .

Nactivesaid...

The link indicates that you are IPv6 ready.
They just mean you will be able to access the site with IPv4 without problems,it doesn't mean your ISP lets you visit the site with IPv6.

Dyingsaid...

In case you have not noticed, it looks like Google got Chrome a little more ready for IPv6 (my bet is that it was done in order to improve the network performance of Chrome for World IPv6 Day) with a special patch to Chrome 11 earlier -

Random_Walksaid...

It helps to use hexadecimal (which is what IPv6 numbers are based on), as it shortens things up a bit.

Facebook goes IPv6

Facebook has begun to go IPv6, making its service available at http://www.v6.facebook.com. Of course, if you click this link and get nothing, that will be because you don’t have a v6 Internet connection. The Twittersphere lists the IPv6 address as:

World IPv6 Day looms: what might break (and how to fix it)

When the clock hits midnight on Wednesday, June 8 UTC, World IPv6 day begins. Many Web destinations—including the four most popular (Google, Facebook, YouTube, and Yahoo)—will become reachable over IPv6 for 24 hours. (In the US, that's 8PM EDT, 5PM PDT on Tuesday).
