Strange Not responding issue

I have been using chrome for a couple years now and it has been great. Recently when I am using it it stops responding to website requests. What happen is if I open chrome and then leave it on itle for a little bit and then try to go to a site it will not respond. I have to close chrome and then reopen chrome to get it to work again. Internet explorer does not have this issue. I have tried re-installing chrome and I am on the latest greatest version. I have cleared the cache and histroy ect... I get the same result. Any Ideas.
